This month we moved forward on the world view, how players interact with the game, narrative content, and a few things we’re looking forward to sharing soon.

Terrain Art

We’ve been building the world view. Each world in StariumXCV has hexes that represent individual areas of that world, ranging anywhere from a single hex on a small moon to 91 hexes on a large planet. We are now placing terrain art and structures on them. The visuals of the world are coming together, and seeing it populate with details is exciting.

Area Menu & Game Object Interactions

We are making good progress on the area menu and working through how players will interact with game objects. We know the path we’re on, and the underlying structure for these interactions is in place. Now it’s about filling it out and making it feel right. It’s one of those systems where the foundation matters a lot, and we’re glad we took the time to get it right before building on top of it.

Missions

We’re back to writing missions. Missions are narrative choose-your-own-adventure experiences that players send their leaders on. We already have a good number of these, and we are making sure the pool for missions is plentiful.

Our Stance on AI

We’ll be writing a dedicated blog post on this topic soon, but the short version is: StariumXCV is AI free. This is something we’ve talked about a lot as a team, and it’s a position we feel strongly about. More details to come.

Email Newsletter

An email newsletter is coming soon. You can get these monthly dev updates, as well as major announcements about StariumXCV in your inbox. You will be able to sign up for this on our website coming next month.

We’ve made progress on a lot of fronts, and we’re looking forward to sharing more as things come together.
